How To Be More Confident (after weight loss)

For the record New Orleans owes me nothing! Although this was my 3rd time visiting this was the best thus far! I feel a connection to New Orleans because my daddy is from Louisiana and I when I’m there I just feel like I’m with my people!

I decided to take a chance with this outfit by showing some skin. I wouldn’t have even dared to walk the streets in a crop top last year! I have worked hard to change the way I feel about my body and I think I look good so that’s all that matters.

This crop top from rue21 had to come home with me just off the strength of Mary J. Blige being on the front! I have loved Mary since I was in 6th grade when What’s the 411? Came out. This particular shirt is no longer available, but here is a similar one.

These high waist denim shorts from Charlotte Russe went well with the crop top because the high waist helped hide my stomach. Thick girls are allowed to wear crop tops and short shorts, just make sure it looks good! If you feel good and look good go for it! Work What You Got Hunty!

This was another outfit that I rocked during my New Orleans trip. I felt cute, fun, and free in this Sassy t-shirt that sums up my fiery Leo personality. New Orleans was amazing, I felt great the whole time I was there and I can’t wait to go back! Read below for a few tips I use to be more confident.

After living your whole life overweight, you may think losing weight will give you all the confidence you need. The truth is, your mindset will not change as fast as your body did. This is what I have learned along my journey.

#1 Acknowledge Your Self-Worth

This may sound like common sense, but most of us don’t do it as much as we should. In order to acknowledge your self-worth you must take care of yourself. If you suffer from low confidence and self worth, it’s likely you haven’t been taking care of yourself. Hold your head high and block out the voices in your head that say you are not enough.

Make a list of everything about you that you feel is special and makes you stand out. Refer to the list during those times of self doubt.

You are special and you bring something unique to the world, which is you! No one can be you, quite the way you can so remember that when you feel down and worthless.

#2 Work What You Got

This is a statement I use often (it’s the tagline for my blog). My definition of Work What You Got is, use what you have available to you in order to achieve your goals. Everyone has a different story, so find ways to use what you already have to make things happen. Just because I don’t have expensive designer clothes does not mean I can’t have a fashion blog.

Starting my blog helped me with this, because I have a habit of not doing things because it’s not “perfect” I had to realize this procrastination was stopping me from putting out content and growing my blog. So I just use what I currently have until I’m in a position to do what I feel is better.

#3 Be Yourself!

The best thing you can do in this life is be yourself! Life is too short to try to live the way someone else thinks you should. You can save yourself a lot of stress by applying this to your daily life. Don’t let this world tell you it’s not ok to be who you truly were intended to be be. You will feel so much better when you start doing things according to how see fit.
